ІІІ. Лексико - граматичні засоби вираження заперечення.

Ця група засобів охоплює всі заперечні займенники,

прислівники never, nowhere і сполучник neither... nor.

Особливістю лексико - граматичних засобів є те, що

вони самі здатні виступати самостійним членом речення. Зок-

рема, заперечні займенники можуть вживатись в ролі :

підмета :

e.g. No one seemed to notice her. [ 4, p. 69 ]

No occasion to trouble the vicar. [ 4, p. 34 ]

None of us ever did. [ 8, p. 349 ]

What is cost me to make this proposal, nobody knows.[8, p.401]

Nothing however, was concluded on the subject yet. [8, p. 41 ]

e.g. I am afraid I liked him none the better for that. [ 8, p. 37 ]

No description I could give of her ! [ 8, p. 373 ]

... that could have belonged to nobody else. [ 8 p. 3 ]

Mr. Chillip could do nothing after this . [ 8, p. 8 ]

Лексико - граматичні засоби також можуть вживатись декілька

разів в реченні, коли вони виражають синонімічні поняття :

e.g. It isn’ t only the want of money that I think about - nothing

of the kind - but there’ s neither beautly, nor cleverness, nor

goodness, nor anything else that ‘ s desirable. [4, p. 43 ]

There is nothing half so green that I know anywhere, as the



grass of that churchyard; nothing half so shady as its tree;

nothing half so quiet as its tombstones. [8, 12 ]

He has no secret curiosity, no hankering desire. [ 4, p.41 ]

He said he would never, never part with it any more. [8, p.17 ]
